Catwalk Club Image Gallery, Barrio Barretto
The Catwalk Club has a very unique layout and it's a refreshing change from the usual big dance stage in the middle of the bar. The Catwalk Club has, you guessed it, catwalks, arranged all around the sides of the bar. This makes for excellent viewing of the over 40 sexy dancers you'll find here on any given night.
When I first visited the club in February of 2010, they had these big square tables that were a little too large. Each one had four fixed seats, making it a little awkward for larger groups, and they really wasted a lot of space. Now, they've replaced all but two of those big tables with smaller, round tables and movable chairs. The two remaining square tables have movable chairs, so you can arrange things how you want.
Prices at the Catwalk Club are right in line with the rest of the area, and the service is generally excellent. I've never had to wait more than a minute for my next frosty San Miguel Light. They do offer a full selection of local and imported liquors. The lighting is good, though like most bars, they use a little too much white and yellow light. As a wanna-be photographer, this bothers me. heh. But it's fine for watching the girls.

The Catwalk Club is located on National Highway in Barrio Barretto. It is in the northern section of the strip, next door to Burgo's Sports Bar and Rosie's Bar.

Sons of Bacchus Dance Contest at Surrender Bar, Subic
The brand new Surrender Bar was the host of the latest weekly Sons of Bacchus Dance Contest here in Barrio Barretto, Subic Bay. This week the contest had 9 bars with over 120 girls total (including the Surrender Bar dancing girls).
This week's winners were Bar Barretto - the girls looked great and danced like demons:
Second and Third places were claimed by Cat Walk and Hot Zone.
The bars represented this week were:
- Wet Spot
- Angelwitch
- Bar Barrett0
- Lips
- Rum Jungle
- Hot Zone
- Voodoo
- Cat Walk
- Surrender

Gallery: Sandbaggers Bar
There's a new bar in town, and this one is waaaay different than anything else you are accustomed to.
We'd like to extend a hearty Welcome! to Sandbagger's Bar in Baloy Beach. Getting there is a little more difficult, but it's worth the effort. As you come down Baloy Beach Road and approach the gate, you'll see a little road going up the hill (coming from National Highway it's just past the gate, so turn left up the hill; coming from inside Baloy it's right before the gate, so turn right up the hill). The road winds upwards a little, and very quickly you'll come upon this scene:

The initial view of Sandbaggers as you drive or walk up the short hillside road. The view that awaits is well worth the effort.
This bar is a work in progress. The owner, Ed, is working hard, getting everything installed and set up. This morning they were working hard on putting up big plastic sheets to act as rain barriers. They are transparent so you don't lose that fantastic view. I talked to the bar manager, Marcus, and they are looking at putting in those water mist dispensers - I've seen those in use in many beach and tropical locations, and they drop the temperature by about 15 degrees f. immediately. The comfort rooms got painted today. I think they should rethink the color scheme - it's a little bit metro-sexual for me. How about pink for the girls and blue for the boys? Sandbagger's offers local beers and drinks, as well as a few top-shelf liquors. They are bringing in more and more selections daily. In addition, they have a good menu, with delivery of the food. No need to walk down the hill to grab a bite.

Lower Lips Bar in Barrio Barretto
Wow.. I've been finding myself in Lower Lips Bar more and more lately, and for good reason. I never really liked this bar very much. I'd usually only come in if I was with someone else that was going there. Now, I never had a problem with this bar, it just didn't really come to mind when I was thinking about places to go. Nothing really made it stand out - black walls, decent lighting, same music you hear in all the other bars.
As I said, I've been going to Lower Lips more and more. I don't know what's changed. I was there last night and was having a really great time, and I started thinking about why I liked it so much more now. There are a few obvious reasons:
- More girls! They've merged the girls from Upper Lips into Lower Lips. That's a lot of lips!
- The music seems better. Less "girl pop" and more of a mix.
- Did I mention more girls?
I didn't ask how many girls there were now, but since Upper Lips had roughly 50, I'd estimate that Lower Lips now has upwards of 90 girls.
But, there is more to the change that can't be explained by having more girls in the bar. I think the entire attitude of the bar has changed. It seems to have more energy, more of that spark that gets into your head and brings your attitude up, and puts you in party mode.
Whatever the reason, Lower Lips Bar is now on my list as a regular stop.

Treasure Island Resort
Treasure Island is a higher-end beach-side resort in Baloy Long Beach, Olongapo City, Philippines.
Just off the National Highway from Barrio Barretto, Baloy Beach is a wonderful oasis of peace and quiet. Traffic is very limited in this gated beach community as there is only one road in and out. Directly in the middle of Baloy Beach Road, just before Johansons Dive Resort and just past the White House lodge, you'll find the Treasure Island Beach Resort.
Treasure Island has 6 different room types, providing very flexible accommodations to groups of any size:
- Standard Room (P1,500)
- Deluxe Room (P1,900)
- Beach Front Deluxe (P2,700)
- Family Room (P2,700)
- Ocean View Room (P2,700)
- Suite Room (P3,500)
All of the rooms are suitable for 2 people, and the Family and Suite rooms can easily handle three.
The resort features abundant off-street parking (the only resort on Baloy that has on-site parking), a large, well maintained swimming pool with ocean views, a big jacuzzi that will easily fit 10 people, a 24 hour full-menu restaurant and bar, and free Wi-Fi available in all the rooms, the pool area and the restaurant/bar area. Treasure Island has the fastest internet in the area, with their own dedicated fiber optic line. I regularly take my laptop computer and use the free Wi-Fi when I need to up or download a lot of data.
The staff at Treasure Island is friendly and efficient. They've recently hired a new kitchen manager who takes great pride in delivering a variety of quality meals, inlcuding many American and English specialties, as well as local Philippine cuisine. I especially enjoy having breakfast at Treasure Island, and looking out over Subic Bay.
Treasure Island Beach Resort has a fantastic view, good quality accommodations, a beautiful pool, a very liberal guest policy, and is quiet and relaxing. No karaoke on the beach at night here! Please enjoy the image gallery, and don't forget to leave comments!

Blue Rock Beach Resort
Blue Rock Beach Resort and Dive Center is another excellent choice for higher value accommodations in the Baloy Beach area of Barrio Barretto.
The Blue Rock Resort is located near the entry to Baloy Beach, just a half a kilometer from the National Highway. They offer great rooms and good prices, a 24 hour restaurant that serves some of the best food in the area, especially steaks, a great beach, and in season, a floating bar moored just off shore.
